Mid-Autumn, September 2026: 17 days in, HiGo Malaysia's events rise from 311 to 937 and products double

The merchant count didn't budge from 482,074. What grew was the product shelf, Market news and the events calendar, and events grew fastest: 311 at launch on 8 September, 937 by Mid-Autumn.

As of 14:30 on 25 September 2026, HiGo's Malaysia site carried 21,075 products, 45,620 market news headlines (headlines from public media) and 937 events: roughly 2.1, 2.8 and 3 times what it had at launch on 8 September 2026.

482,074 merchants, not one changed: the map was drawn before launch

The 482,074 listings cover every state and federal territory, 16 in all. Of these, 459,924 (95.4%) carry a public Google rating, with 29,503,902 reviews between them. For all 17 days since launch, the merchant listings haven't been refreshed and have stayed on the 4 September 2026 version.

Think of the merchants as the base map. Where a shop sits and how it's rated don't change overnight. What changes every day is what's on the shelf, what the media are writing about and what's on the city's calendar.

Products: 11,075 new items, and none went into the five most crowded categories

Half of the 10,000 products at launch sat in just five categories: home and office storage (1,005); necklaces and pendants, women's dresses, and rings (1,000 each); and bracelets and bangles (999), making 5,004 in all.

From 8 to 13 September 2026, nothing was added. From 14 to 24 September 2026, roughly 1,000 items were added each day: 1,025 on 14 September, 1,050 on 16 September and 1,000 on each of the other 9 days, for a total of 11,075 over 11 days. The new stock spread across 392 categories, and not one item went into those five.

The shelf evened out. The five categories' share of all products fell from 50.0% to 23.7%, and the number of categories with fewer than 50 items dropped from 404 to 263.

Market news: 29,402 new headlines, with Malay almost level with English

There were 16,218 headlines at launch, and another 29,402 have come in since. Of the new ones, 14,692 are in English and 13,427 in Malay, with 657 in Chinese and 626 in Tamil. English leads Malay by just 1,265.

Counting headlines from before and after launch, 27 of all 45,620 mention Mid-Autumn, mooncakes, lanterns or tanglung, or the Chinese words for them, and 24 of those came in after launch. The earliest, from 4 September 2026, was about new mooncake flavours. A search in Chinese turns up none, as HiGo carries few Chinese-language headlines to begin with.

Events: 492 of the 937 run to 25 September or later

There were 311 events at launch; by 14:30 on 25 September 2026 there were 937, an increase of 626. Of the 937, a total of 492 end on or after 25 September 2026. Of those, 25 are running on 25 September itself and 65 begin between 26 and 30 September. Another 209 begin in October, 134 in November and 46 in December, while 13 are scheduled for 2027 or later.

Kuala Lumpur has 203 of the 492 and Selangor 111, so the two account for 314, or 63.8%. Penang is third with 38. The other 13 states and federal territories share 97, and 43 have no location tagged.

What these numbers mean for you

  • Planning the weekend of 26 and 27 September? 42 events on the events page fall on those two days. If you live outside Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, filter by state first: the other 14 states and federal territories have 135 between them, including 38 in Penang.
  • Looking for a lantern festival: none of the 937 events has Mid-Autumn, mooncake, lantern, tanglung or the Chinese words for them in its title. For temple, mall and community Mid-Autumn programmes, check their own social media pages or notice boards.
  • Keeping up with the Malay-language press: since launch, Market news has added 13,427 Malay headlines, almost as many as English. Chinese headlines number just 657.
  • Shopping for something other than jewellery, dresses or storage: the 11,075 new products are spread over 392 categories, and none went into those five.
  • Picking a shop: of the merchants listed, 95.4% carry a public Google rating, with 29,503,902 reviews between them, so it's worth reading what others say before you go.

The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on 25 September 2026, the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. On 24 September 2026, National Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang said that flavours from lotus seed paste, red bean and salted egg yolk to snow skin, pandan, chocolate and durian have given the festival a distinctly Malaysian character (Bernama). Happy Mid-Autumn to every family, whichever mooncake you reach for first.

Data: HiGo merchant listings, products, market news and events, queried at 14:30 on 25 September 2026. "At launch" means entries added before 00:00 on 8 September 2026 (Malaysia time). The listing count is not the total number of merchants in Malaysia. Ratings and review counts are public Google data, not scores given by HiGo. Market news items are headlines and links from public media, gathered by HiGo and sorted by language; they are not news written by HiGo, and not all of them are local news. A further 11,184 early entries have no language tag: they count towards the total but not towards any language. Events cover only those HiGo has listed, not every event in Malaysia.
