On a mottled pale-grey background, a waveform of dozens of rounded vertical bars runs across the frame, yellow on the left turning orange on the right; in front of it is a half-length portrait of the pianist Stephen Hough, dark grey hair, a fawn overcoat and a patterned scarf, looking off to the right; a yellow-toned portrait of Beethoven is layered behind his left shoulder.
