Vivaldi's Four Seasons told as a story: a 60-minute family concert at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, 19 September 2026

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra plays it live while Classical Kids Live! tells the story, and the programme leans on The Four Seasons and other pieces you'll recognise in a bar or two. One performance, 14:30 on Saturday 19 September, tickets from RM149 — and the event page says only children aged 4 and above get in with a ticket.

A view from the back rows of a concert hall towards the stage: in warm yellow light, the foreground shows the backs of a family of four, two adults each sitting next to a child in red seats; on stage the orchestra is out of focus, only the shapes of string players and music stands showing. Official schedule: 19 September 2026. Dates are from the organiser's announcement. We cannot confirm that the event is running on any particular day.

Take a child to a concert hall and what you dread isn't the music, it's the third piece — that's usually when they want to go home. Vivaldi's Ring Of Mystery gets around that by making the concert a play: the composer Antonio Vivaldi is a character in it, and the music follows his story. The event page lists one performance only: 14:30 on Saturday 19 September 2026, at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS on Level Two, Tower Two of the PETRONAS Twin Towers (official event page).

At a glance

  • Time: 14:30 on Saturday 19 September, approximately 60 minutes, no interval. The event page doesn't say when doors open
  • Tickets: RM149, RM199, RM249 and RM299, plus suites at RM349 or RM399 per seat with light refreshments included — the RM149, RM199, RM249 and RM299 seats don't come with them. A footnote under the prices states that the ticket price excludes an RM5 fee per ticket and 3.5% per online transaction on all payment methods. Over four tickets, those two add up. • Who it's for: for this Family Fun Day concert, the event page lets in only children aged 4 and above, each with an admission ticket. If your child hasn't turned 4 yet, you'll have to give this one a miss
  • Where: Level Two, Tower Two of the PETRONAS Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, 50088 Kuala Lumpur. Neither official site publishes parking rates. Venue location and contact page
  • Buying: online on the orchestra's site, at the box office counter, by phone on 03-2331 7007, or by email to boxoffice@dfp.com.my. The box office is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30–18:30. No seat count and no sold-out notice are published either way, so call the box office if you want to be sure. Official booking information
  • Dress: smart casual. The event page doesn't allow torn jeans, shorts, collarless t-shirts, sweatshirts, singlets or sports attire at any time. Slippers don't get in either, flip-flops included

Highlights

  • It isn't sit-still-and-listen; it's a show with a plot: the event page calls it a theatrical symphonic concert, drawn from the Classical Kids recording of the same name, with Vivaldi's own story threading the music together. The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra plays it live on stage, conducted by Gerard Salonga. For a child who has never been inside a concert hall, characters and a plot are easier to sit through than movements
  • The programme is the pieces you already know: The Four Seasons, the Violin Concerto in A minor and the Guitar Concerto are all on it. That's a programme nobody needs to do homework for
  • 60 minutes, straight through: approximately 60 minutes, and no interval. That suits a child who can't sit still, but it also means there's no break to slip out during — take them to the toilet before you go in
  • Three promo codes, three different sets of conditions: FAMILY4, the family-of-four code, takes 20% off and applies to all seating categories. MYKAD10 takes 10% off for MyKad holders and SENIOR15 takes 15% off for senior citizens; for those two you enter the code at purchase and show valid ID. None of the discounts can be combined, so a family of four bringing a grandparent still has to pick the single best one
  • A wheelchair user's ticket includes a complimentary companion ticket: the accessibility note on the event page says that a ticket purchased by a wheelchair user "includes a complimentary ticket for a companion". To arrange the wheelchair space and the route to it, contact the box office first, on 03-2331 7007 or at contactus@dfp.com.my — a different address from the boxoffice@dfp.com.my you'd buy through. Tips

  • Turn up late and you can miss the whole thing: the booking information says concerts at DFP begin promptly at the advertised starting time, and it won't let latecomers in until the interval or a suitable break in the programme. This concert runs 60 minutes with no interval, so that gap may never come — and then late means the whole hour, outside. The box office opens at 10:30, so you can get there early and ask, instead of standing outside guessing. Official booking information
  • No food or drink inside the hall: food and beverages are not allowed in the concert hall. With children, deal with the water and the snack before you go in (The event page doesn't say where suite guests have the refreshments that come with those seats — if you've booked one, ask the box office about that too.)
  • The dress code covers the children too: get their shoes sorted at home rather than at the door

Places nearby

The hall is inside the PETRONAS Twin Towers, so nothing below is a long walk after the concert ends. All three are on HiGo's merchant listings, within 300 metres of the hall, rated 4.8 or above with at least 250 reviews. Only one of them is in the same KLCC complex as the hall; for the other two you cross Jalan Ampang to Avenue K:

Ratings and review counts come from Google's public data, as recorded by HiGo on 4 September 2026. They are not a HiGo ranking or recommendation.

Check before you go

  • Already decided to buy? There are no refunds and all sales are final, so check the date, the headcount and the children's ages once more before you place the order
  • Booking a suite? "Light refreshments" is all it says — not what they are, and not whether they're enough to keep a child going. Call 03-2331 7007 before you pay
  • Using a promo code? Only one of the three can apply, and MYKAD10 and SENIOR15 need valid ID at purchase. Work out all three before you check out
  • Someone in your party using a wheelchair? The event page asks you to contact the box office in advance for the seat and the route to it — not at the door on the day
