Rado's High-Tech Ceramic Lab at Pavilion KL, 12 days: a gift for finishing, and the watches are still on Level 2
The stand is gone; two things are left. Why this ceramic is both hard and light, and which floor to go to if you want to see the watches.

Official schedule: 9–20 September 2026. Dates are from the organiser's announcement. We cannot confirm that the event is running on any particular day.
What actually makes a ceramic watch worth it? From 9 to 20 September 2026, the Connection area on Level 3 of Pavilion KL held the answer: Rado's High-Tech Ceramic Lab stood right beside the café Quivo, with interactive demonstrations of the brand's high-tech ceramic and a look at the innovation behind its best-known watches. Pavilion KL's event page said you would get an exclusive Rado gift once you completed the experience. At a glance
- Where it stood: the Connection area on Level 3 of Pavilion KL, right beside the café Quivo (Quivo is at Lot 3.09.02)
- Opening hours, tickets and booking: not published by Pavilion KL as of 14 September, and the page itself came down from the mall's site once the run was over
- The gift: the event page's wording was an exclusive Rado gift on completing the experience. How it was handed out, and how many there were, was never published.
- Where the watches still are: Rado's Pavilion KL store is one floor down on Level 2, Fashion Avenue (Lot 2.01.04), 10:00 to 22:00. Its store page says Pavilion Lifestyle, Priority and Luxe members get an exclusive gift with a Rado watch purchase, while stocks last. Rado on Pavilion KL's site
- Getting there: take the MRT to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur – Bukit Bintang station and use Door D or Door E into the mall, as Pavilion KL suggests. On the monorail, get off at Bukit Bintang and follow the Pavilion KL signs out of the station. Pavilion KL's getting-here page
Highlights
- It starts as powder. Rado launched its first high-tech ceramic watch in 1986, so 2026 marks 40 years. According to Rado, the material begins as pure zirconium oxide powder, then goes through moulding, sintering, machining with diamond tools and surface finishing, which takes about five to six weeks. That material know-how is what the lab was about. Rado: The Art of Ceramic
- Hard but light. By Rado's own figures, it's up to 5 times harder than stainless steel and around 30% lighter than steel.
- The colour is in the material. Rado says pigments are blended into the mineral powder before the ceramic is formed, rather than coated on top. What started as a single colour now runs to more than 20 shades.
