Official schedule: 12–13 September 2026. Dates are from the organiser's announcement. We cannot confirm that the event is running on any particular day.

For one weekend in September, the park at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers belonged to Pokémon. PokéXciting! took place in KLCC Park on 12–13 September 2026, the first stop on Pokémon's five-city 30th anniversary tour of Asia, and the organiser has since posted a thank-you on its official page that signs off "Jumpa lagi KL!" Official PokéXciting! page Missed it? The Pokémon Center pop-up at Ombak KLCC, open until 31 December, has limited turquoise Pikachu merchandise, and Kuala Lumpur's Pikachu stamp in Pokémon GO stays in the park until 2029.

At a glance

  • Pop-up: the Pokémon Center pop-up is on Level 3 of Ombak KLCC, open 10:00–22:00 daily until 31 December. The Kuala Lumpur Pikachu merchandise is limited. Prices: not announced by the organiser as of 21 September.
  • GO Kuala Lumpur Pikachu stamp: in front of the Esplanade in KLCC Park, until 11 September 2029.
  • GO park rally: stays for only a month after the event. To be safe, finish it before 12 October.
  • Wild turquoise Pikachu: keeps appearing in Kuala Lumpur for a month after the event, according to the Pokémon GO team.
  • Getting there: the nearest station is KLCC on the LRT. The Esplanade is just outside Suria KLCC, and the pop-up is at the other end of the park, in Ombak KLCC.

What's still up for grabs

Kuala Lumpur's is turquoise: in the official artwork, a mop of turquoise curls dotted with stars. Special merchandise featuring it went on sale at the Pokémon Center pop-up on 12 September, in limited quantities while supplies last. Official PokéXciting! page The pop-up stays open until 31 December (pop-up announcement). For what else is on the shelves and how to walk there from the park, see our pop-up guide.

Pokémon GO: Kuala Lumpur's Pikachu stamp, for three years. The cross-region GO Stamp Rally has five stamps, one in each tour city. Kuala Lumpur's is in front of the Esplanade in KLCC Park, and the Pokémon GO team lists it from 12 September 2026 to 11 September 2029. Spin the PokéXciting! Pokémon GO: the park's five-stamp rally, for a month. KLCC Park's own rally has five stamps inspired by Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu and Vileplume, and completing it also gets you the turquoise Pikachu with its Kuala Lumpur Location Background. The two official announcements put the deadline differently: the Kuala Lumpur announcement says one month after the event date, the Asia-Pacific announcement says one month after the event begins, and neither gives an end date. Finishing before 12 October is the safe bet.

Turquoise Pikachu in the wild, also for a month. According to the Asia-Pacific announcement, each city's PokéXciting! Pikachu keeps turning up in the wild there for a month after the local event. In Kuala Lumpur, that's the turquoise one. Asia-Pacific announcement

What was on that weekend

The official schedule ran from 13:30 to 22:00, and entry was free and open to everyone, according to the organiser. Official schedule Last on the schedule was the PokéXciting! Drone Show behind the Petronas Twin Towers, 21:00–21:10, which the organiser billed as Malaysia's first Pokémon-themed drone show. Official event page Before that came the Special Night Show, 19:40–20:10, fronted by the turquoise Pikachu. Earlier slots included parades at 13:30 and 18:00, Pikachu dances in EDM, Pokémon Kids TV and ROCK versions, POKÉGENIC photo spots around the park, and booths handing out sun visors and Pokéscape.

Tips

  • Do both in one trip. Collect the stamp at the Esplanade outside Suria KLCC, then walk through the park to the pop-up in Ombak KLCC.
  • Don't wait on the merchandise. The Kuala Lumpur Pikachu items are limited and sold while supplies last, and the organiser says store entry may be limited when it's crowded.
  • The five park stamps are in the park. They're on designated PokéStops around KLCC Park, which is open-air, so bring an umbrella and a fully charged phone.
