iPad mini gets an 8.5-inch OLED screen, from RM2,999

A 6-core CPU comes only with 512GB; the matte screen only with 256GB or 512GB, for RM400 more.

The top half is an official product photo on a white background: one hand holding an iPad mini, its screen showing the word “mini” made of blue-purple tube-like strokes; the bottom half is text. Text: a rounded label reading “Trending · Malaysia”; in the middle, large type on two lines reading “iPad mini gets an” and “8.5-inch OLED screen”, and below it a line reading “From RM2,999 for Wi-Fi”; a dark strip at the foot reads “Every corner, everywhere.”, “HiGo Corner Journal” and “higo.shop”.

The iPad mini now has an 8.5-inch OLED screen. Pre-orders open on 29 October 2026 and it goes on sale on 6 November 2026: from RM2,999 for the Wi-Fi model, and from RM3,699 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. Apple Malaysia's press release

What it means for you

The screen is bigger, but the iPad itself isn't. The 8.5-inch display fits into the same footprint as the previous mini, thanks to bezels that are 24% thinner. It is 5.4 mm thick, and thinner and lighter than the previous generation.

Peak brightness is up to 1200 nits, more than twice that of the previous generation. If you often use your iPad outdoors, there is also a nano-texture (matte) option that cuts glare in bright light.

It is water and dust resistant, rated IP67. Apple's own footnote adds a caveat, though: the resistance is not permanent and can decrease with normal wear, and liquid damage is not covered under warranty.

What it costs and where to buy

Pre-orders open at 01:10 on Thursday 29 October 2026, at apple.com/my and in the Apple Store app. Apple Malaysia's buying page

RM2,999 is the entry configuration. For the standard-glass models, the prices are as follows (Wi-Fi / Wi-Fi + Cellular; midnight and starlight cost the same):

  • 128GB: RM2,999 / RM3,699
  • 256GB: RM3,399 / RM4,099
  • 512GB: RM4,299 / RM4,999

The extra money buys more than storage: the 128GB and 256GB models have a 5-core CPU, and the 6-core CPU, with a dual 16-core Neural Engine, comes only with 512GB.

The nano-texture screen isn't on every size either: only 256GB and 512GB can be ordered with it, and it adds RM400 at each size.

With education savings, the iPad mini starts at RM2,779.

Accessories are extra: the TechWoven Smart Folio is RM349 and the Apple Pencil Pro is RM549.

The 0% instalment plans run over 6, 12 or 24 months and need a single transaction of RM2,000 or more — even the RM2,999 entry model clears that. They come from participating banks and are subject to your card issuer's approval. A trade-in is worth RM175 to RM6,050, and trade-in is not available in East Malaysia.

Deliveries start on 6 November 2026, and it will also be available at Apple Stores and Apple Authorised Resellers. On Apple's store list, Malaysia shows one Apple Store: The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur.
