Foldable iPhone Duo in Malaysia from RM9,499, out October 2026

It folds down to roughly the size of a passport and opens into a small tablet. Apple's first foldable iPhone now has official Malaysian pricing, and Malaysia gets it in the first wave.

Apple announced the iPhone Duo on 10 September 2026. In Malaysia it starts at RM9,499, pre-orders open at 20:00 on Friday 16 October, and it goes on sale on Friday 23 October. Apple Malaysia press release

What stands out

• Two screens: the 7.6-inch inner display is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max's. The outer display is 5.4 inches, and Apple says the phone is comfortable to use one-handed when closed.
• Thin: 5.2mm when open, which Apple says makes it the thinnest iPhone ever. It's 11.3mm closed and weighs 254g. Specs
• The crease: Apple says the matte nano-texture finish on the inner display “minimises crease visibility”. The hinge uses more than 100 components to support the middle of the screen.
• Cameras: two 48MP cameras on the back (main and ultra wide), and a FaceTime camera hidden under the inner display. You can take selfies with the rear cameras, using the outer display as a viewfinder. For photos of children, Kid Cue plays Peanuts animations on the outer display to get them looking at the camera.
• Split View: open it up and run two apps side by side, or two Safari windows.
• Touch ID and eSIM: Touch ID sits in the side button. It's eSIM only, and two numbers can be active at once (Dual eSIM).

What people are asking

• Can I have one in hand on 16 October? No. Pre-orders open on Apple Malaysia's online store at 20:00 that Friday, and the phone goes on sale on Friday 23 October. Your delivery date shows up when you pre-order.
• Can you see the crease? Apple only says it's less visible, not that it's invisible.
• Will it work with my telco? Only if your telco supports eSIM, because the Duo won't take a physical SIM card. Apple Malaysia names CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile and Yes among the telcos that support eSIM.
• Does it have Face ID? It uses Touch ID in the side button, and Face ID isn't in Apple's specs. Touch ID works open or closed, and you can also unlock the phone with an Apple Watch.

iPhone 18 Pro: pre-orders opened 12 September, on sale 18 September

If you don't want to wait for the foldable, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max arrive sooner, and Malaysia is again in the first wave. Where to see one in person

Malaysia's only Apple Store is Apple The Exchange TRX, at L1.40 in The Exchange TRX mall, Kuala Lumpur. Apple Malaysia store list For the launch on Friday 18 September, the store's page lists special opening hours of 08:00–22:00, two hours earlier than its usual 10:00 start (checked 14 September). As of 14 September, Apple hasn't said when demo units of either phone will be in store, so check the store's page before you make the trip.
