Le Tour de Langkawi 2026 crosses eight states in Peninsular Malaysia over eight stages: as of 25 September 2026, only two stages have a published road closure
If you are hoping to watch from the roadside, the only climb officials have described as having viewing spots set aside is Gunung Jerai, from the foot of the hill at Yan town up to the finish line at the summit. So far this year, district closure notices have gone up three to five days before the 27 September start, which is why only the Kuala Selangor and Kuala Kangsar stages have times you can look up; if you drive, watch your own district.

Le Tour de Langkawi is Malaysia's multi-day road race: eight days, one stage a day. The UCI's competition record lists the 2026 edition as a 2.Pro stage race on the UCI ProSeries, Men Elite, under the name Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi, running 27 September – 4 October 2026; Malaysian officials and government media write it Le Tour de Langkawi 2026. The Youth and Sports Minister, Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari, spoke after the route launch in Putrajaya on 25 June 2026. He said this is the 30th edition: 1,258.5 kilometres in all, through eight states in Peninsular Malaysia, with three summit finishes. He also said it is the hardest challenge in the race's history, and that 20 teams have confirmed their entry (UCI competition record, RTM report).

What to look for
- Which day the race passes your area: RTM has laid the eight stages out in one table: 27 September, Shah Alam to Kampar, 193.0 km; 28 September, Taiping to Gunung Jerai, 145.6 km; 29 September, Sungai Petani to Kuala Kangsar, 189.9 km; 30 September, Meru Raya to Cameron Highlands, 140.1 km; 1 October, Tapah to Genting Highlands, 125.7 km; 2 October, Pandan Indah to Rembau, 121.3 km; 3 October, Melaka to Batu Pahat, 159.1 km; 4 October, Muar to Putrajaya, 183.8 km. - Three summit finishes, and the minister says the Gunung Jerai climb is in the route for the first time: the minister put the climb in stage 2, from Taiping up to the Gunung Jerai summit. He said it is graded a category 1 climb; it starts at sea level at the foot of the mountain and rises to nearly 1,000 metres. The same report names the other two summit finishes, Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands; read alongside RTM's stage table, those fall on 30 September and 1 October. RTM report
- Viewing spots for fans have been set aside along the Gunung Jerai climb: the race's chief operating officer, Emir Abdul Jalal, said in an interview on 12 September 2026 that the climb has been planned as a "mini Genting Highlands". In the same report, which RTM published on 14 September 2026, he said local authorities and the Kedah state government, working through Yan district, have been preparing along the route, and that viewing spots for fans have been set aside from the foot of the hill at Yan town right up to the finish line at the summit. This is the organisers' account, not a traffic order: the report gives no zone map, no opening time and no entry arrangement. RTM report
- Kuala Selangor, Sunday 27 September: the two official notices give different times, and both are set out here: 27 September is stage 1, Shah Alam to Kampar. On 23 September the Selangor government's media agency reported a Facebook statement from JKR Kuala Selangor: three main routes closing in phases that day from 11:00 to 14:00 — Jalan Bukit Cerakah (FT1210), Jalan Kepong–Kuala Selangor (FT054) and Jalan Klang–Sabak Bernam (FT005) — with traffic let through earlier once all the riders had passed. On 24 September the same agency reported the Kuala Selangor OCPD, Supt Azaharuddin Tajudin, giving the closure as 11:00 to 13:00 and describing the stretches as Bukit Cherakah (Mokhtar Dahari traffic lights to Desa Coalfield traffic lights) and Jalan Kuala Lumpur–Kuala Selangor (Desa Coalfield to the Simpang Tiga Asam Jawa traffic lights), adding Jalan Klang–Teluk Intan from KM 41 at Asam Jawa to KM 74.4 at the Kuala Selangor–Sabak Bernam boundary sign, and naming two alternatives: Jalan Kuala Selangor–Rawang and Jalan Bankenal at Tanjong Karang. - Kuala Kangsar, Tuesday 29 September: 08:00 to 18:00, and Sungai Siput traffic is turned away at the hospital junction: the Kuala Kangsar OCPD, ACP Heisham Harun, said on 22 September (RTM, carrying Bernama) that the closure runs from 08:00 to 18:00, with further roads closing and diverting from 12:30 to 15:30. The roads shut from 08:00 to 18:00 are those around Pavilion/Dewan Jubli Kuala Kangsar, the Jalan Tun Razak junctions with Jalan MCKK and Jalan Bendahara, and Jalan Tun Razak from Dataran Pavilion to the KTM traffic lights. Vehicles from Taiping, Gerik and the Kuala Kangsar toll plaza heading for Sungai Siput will be diverted via Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah (Bulatan Jam), Jalan Daeng Selili, the Penaga traffic light, Jambatan Sayong and Jalan Kota Lama Kanan. Those from the toll plaza and Taiping heading for Gerik will be held briefly at the Chuar traffic light at Kati to let through the riders coming from the Gerik side. At the hospital junction traffic light, only vehicles going to the hospital are let through. The notice only covers the finish: it gives no stage number and does not say which town the stage starts from. Tips
- The other six stages have no published closure notice: as of 25 September 2026 there is no official closure notice for 28 September, 30 September, 1 October, 2 October, 3 October or 4 October, nor for the Shah Alam start or the Kampar finish on 27 September. So far this year the districts have posted their notices three to five days before the 27 September start: the Kuala Kangsar one on 22 September, the two Kuala Selangor ones on 23 and 24 September. If you drive through, watch your own district's police and JKR announcements
- A closure window is not a race time: no start or finish time appears in any official notice or government-media report; every time above is a closure window. The JKR version also says that traffic is let through earlier once all the riders have cleared the area
- Weather: Emir told Bernama on 15 September 2026 that alternative routes are ready for all eight stages in case of weather changes such as haze and floods; he said that if the Air Pollutant Index (API) is too high and reaches dangerous levels there are rules for it, and the race might be stopped, cancelled or delayed. The 29 September stage finishes at Kuala Kangsar. One caution for 29 September: Lexzo Coffee is at 7A, Jalan Tun Razak. The notice closes that road from Dataran Pavilion to the KTM traffic lights, 08:00 to 18:00 that day, so check whether the cafe's end of the road is affected before you set off.
