Getting to the F1 race at Sepang, 2⁠–⁠4 October 2026: four shuttle points, one parking pass per customer, an RM200 train pass

If you're driving down from the Klang Valley, the first thing to settle about the F1 race at Sepang usually isn't which stand to sit in. It's where you leave the car, and which shuttle point you come in from.

For the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026, at Sepang International Circuit from 2 to 4 October 2026, the organiser's site lists four shuttle points around the circuit. All four run 07:00 to 00:00 on all three days, and the shuttle service is for all ticket holders. Cars without a parking pass, the same page says, will not be permitted near the circuit. The name says Bahrain, the cars run at Sepang: F1 and the FIA confirmed that Malaysia would host this Bahrain Grand Prix, slotted between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix, and the organiser's announcement of 22 September 2026 calls it the 16th round of this season's FIA F1 World Championship. Why the race moved to Malaysia hasn't been explained officially; F1 says only that the agreement, reached between Formula 1, the FIA, the Government of Bahrain and the Government of Malaysia, preserves a Grand Prix that would otherwise not have happened. The train is the other official route. ERL's Sepang Race Train Pass is RM200 and covers six trips between KL Sentral and KLIA T2, valid for 2 to 4 October 2026 only; ERL puts the ride itself at approximately 33 minutes. The shuttle bus between KLIA T2 and the circuit isn't part of the pass — the official bus service provider runs that separately — but ERL's own page says those transfers are complimentary for race weekend attendees, so that leg costs you nothing on top. What stands out

• Four shuttle points around the circuit, the same hours on all three days, parking at every one of them: Mitsui Outlet Park, KLIA Terminal 2, the KLIA Long-Term Car Park, and Persiaran Millenia 2 in Bandar Baru Enstek. The organiser also says to take public transport to the shuttle points where you can.
• Only one parking pass may be bought per customer, and it is valid for three days: the organiser says parking at the circuit is limited, so driving into the area around the venue means securing that one pass first. • By the operator's own maths, the RM200 train pass saves up to RM130: that's against six single trips at the standard fare of RM55 a trip. All six trips have to be used between 2 and 4 October 2026. The pass is non-refundable, non-transferable and for a single passenger, and travelling beyond KL Sentral or KLIA T2 uses up a whole trip.
• There are shuttle buses inside the circuit too, one a minute: the organiser says the internal shuttle buses come every minute during the opening hours of the race weekend.
• The concert upgrades are sold to race-weekend ticket holders only: Axwell on the evening of 3 October 2026, Martin Garrix after the race on 4 October 2026. Upgrades are USD 50 a person for Axwell and USD 100 a person for Martin Garrix, with a separate ticket needed for each performance; the organiser says upgrade instructions have been sent to ticket holders by email.
• Coming by taxi or e-hailing? Give this address: Sepang International Circuit, Jalan Pekeliling, 64150 Sepang, Selangor. The organiser says drop-off is by the main circuit entrance, and that taxis on the way out pick up at the designated taxi rank.

Malaysian prices

There is a separate ringgit list for MyKad holders on the ticketing page, headed “Price inc. Tax (in MYR)”, and every row is a three-day ticket:

The conditions printed under the same table are worth a read before you pay:

• The organiser says your transaction will be processed in Bahraini Dinars, at the exchange rate prevailing at the time of the transaction. In other words the ringgit figures are the listed price: you are charged through Bahraini Dinars at whatever the rate is when you pay, so the amount that lands on your statement can differ from the ringgit in the table. Whether a foreign transaction fee is added on top isn't stated by the organiser — that one is a question for your card issuer.
• Children aged 3 to 6 get a 25% discount, G Hillstand excluded. Free entry for children under 3, with no seat allocated.
• These rates are only for MyKad holders. The organiser says there is a verification process: a discounted ticket that doesn't match a valid MyKad, or that otherwise fails the eligibility criteria, will be invalidated.

The list for non-Malaysians on the same page is in US dollars, headed “Price inc. Tax (in US $)”: the Main Grandstand is USD 565.40, K2 Hillstand and B General Admission are USD 220.00 each, and K1 Grandstand, F Grandstand and C Hillstand are marked sold out. So the two tables don't agree: K1 and F read sold out on the dollar list while the ringgit list still shows RM1,386.00 and RM1,291.40. C Hillstand is sold out on both. The questions readers ask most

• Where do I collect the parking pass? Not at the circuit. The organiser says passes are collected at the collection point in Mitsui Outlet Park and that you'll be sent instructions by email; another line on the same page says passes already bought can be collected at the BIC counter in Mitsui Mall.
• What about children? The ticket table says free entry for children under 3 with no seat allocated, and a 25% discount for children aged 3 to 6, G Hillstand excluded. On the train pass, ERL says a child under six doesn't need a pass of their own when travelling with a fare-paying adult who holds a valid pass, while a child of six and above needs one.
• How often does the shuttle come? The organiser's site doesn't give a frequency, only the service window of 07:00 to 00:00. The figure that is going around comes from the media, and it's in the section below.
• The rest had not been published officially as at 25 September 2026: the opening times for the stands and the on-track schedule, the shuttle journey time and last-bus time, what time the collection point opens each day, the train frequency on 2 to 4 October 2026, and whether tickets are checked as you board the shuttle (the organiser says only that the service is available for all ticket holders).

Shuttle fleet and parking charges: reported so far only in the media

• Bernama reported on 24 September 2026 that 95 buses will be deployed on a loop for the free shuttle service. The same report quotes Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Syahrul Azmir Ahmad Zaki saying the service will run 07:00 to 00:00 on all three days and that the buses will come every 10 to 15 minutes, and that Rapid KL will also run shuttle buses inside the circuit. • The two lists of boarding points don't match. Bernama quotes the same chief executive officer naming three: the bus hub on Level 1 of KLIA Terminal 2, the Mitsui KLIA bus hub, and De-Village at Persiaran Millenia 2 in Bandar Baru Enstek. The organiser's site lists four shuttle points; the extra one is the KLIA Long-Term Car Park. The dates (2 to 4 October 2026) and the hours (07:00 to 00:00) are the same on both.
• Parking prices zone by zone have so far appeared only on paultan.org, in a report on 24 September 2026. It says that, going by the prices listed on the organiser's ticket-buying page, the three-day parking passes are priced by zone in Bahraini Dinars, from BHD15.08 for the lowest band to BHD60.32 for the highest. Its price list marks P2, P3 and P15 sold out, and the report also says PA1 has sold out. The same report says there is no motorcycle parking at the circuit and that the nearest alternatives for riders will likely be those shuttle points. • Train pass: on sale on the KLIA Ekspres website and mobile app from 22 September 2026, at self-service kiosks from 24 September 2026, and at customer service counters only from 2 October 2026.
• Concert upgrades: sold to race-weekend ticket holders only, one ticket per performance, with the organiser sending ticket holders the upgrade instructions by email.

Before you pay

• If you plan to drive: have the parking pass in hand before you set off, and build the collection trip into your plan — it isn't handed out at the circuit.
• If you're buying the RM200 train pass: count how many trips you will really make over the three days. Trips you don't use aren't refunded, and you can't pass them to someone travelling with you.
• If you want K1 or F: check on the payment page whether seats are still there. The dollar table on the same page marks both sold out while the ringgit table still carries a price.
• If you're buying at the MyKad ringgit rates: they are for MyKad holders only, the organiser says there is a verification process and a ticket that doesn't match will be invalidated, so check that the MyKad you mean to use is valid.
